After EX4's disheartening first day in the US with only $3.2M (including Thursday’s $750,000) and a projected first weekend of only $8M the chances of an EX5 have pretty much evaporated! It was a great ride that now seems to be over. For a lot of fans (including me) the EXPENDABLES Tetralogy will forever be remembered as one of the greatest action franchises ever!

DeleteYep, these numbers are terrible and will most definitely finish off the franchise. Too bad that it ended with a bad movie... ending the franchise like this leaves a very bad aftertaste. the OG trilogy will be fondly remembered though for sure! (yes, even EX3, especially after watching EX4)
ReplyDeleteI strongly enjoyed John Wick 4 and Dead Reckoning part 1 this year, which makes the disappointment of EX4 EVEN stronger... those movies made the action genre great again this year, and then my former favorite franchise, that should celebrate the action genre more than any other, turns out this bad.

DeleteThe problem of ex4 starts with avi lerner. No terry crews, divergents ideas with sly etc. In the end ex4 for me was a sort of bad joke, a statham movie with some cameos. Very sad. The hope yesterday was that this bad movie will be a success for a final ex5...but now...
