As someone who loves Expend4bles, I will still forever be flabbergasted that it took them nine years to make a fourth. If they'd come out in 2017 or 2018 with a hard-R sequel, with a similar line-up to EX1 or EX2, I think it would've done much better.
ReplyDeleteHopefully EX4 does well on home video. Million to one odds we ever get a fifth theatrical film, but a modest budget DTV sequel may happen depending on home video/rentals.
It's not very good to make an Expendables movie with a modest budget, because, being an Expendables movie, absurd explosions and big-name actors are necessary and that's expensive. But, a modest budget can generate incredible films. Look at Nobody (2021), it's AMAZING and it was made with just 16 million. Obviously, in addition to the budget, the film had incredible direction. That's what Expendables needs: the right budget and director.
