Probably not. On the same website, Expendables 1 only has one point more than Expend4bles, but in reality it is a great Expendables film. The films in the franchise rarely receive good reviews, precisely because they are not made to be critical successes, but box office successes.
Expendables 2 took the franchise's concept to incredible levels and is seen as the best in the franchise by many fans, but on IMDB it only has 52 points. The franchise never intended to satisfy critics, just provide action.
Wow, I thought the director was going to do something out of the ordinary in the franchise. He usually does things with a lot of fighting and craziness with cars.
Just watched it, and ooff... I was hoping for something at least decent, but this was truly bad... made EX3 look like a masterpiece. Truly a disappointment.. even with my low expectations. At least EX3 had some calmer scenes with conversations but here everything feels rushed, you don't get to know any of the new characters, its a movie made with the rhythm of these modern times, whilst I loved the former movies for being somewhat more chill outside of the action scenes. And even the action scenes were pretty bad. The story itself was garbage for sure.. I did not have high hopes from the director but expected Statham to perhaps force a good movie out of this, but unfortunately no...
I guess the only nice things were Tollroad and Gunnar having a little bit more to do than in EX2 and 3
Sad. I saw some scenes from other films by this director and everything looked good. But, I need to see Expend4bles with my own eyes. I'm not giving up on the franchise.
I wouldn't say it's garbage, but it's not an Expendables movie at all. It's an ok action film at best. It's a Statham film and if Sly was not it and the the team was not called the expendables you wouldn't even know it was an EX flick. Very disappointing form that respect
Yes true... the Expendables vibe was not here at all. I really miss the motorcycles, classic rock music, tough guy 80's vibe... and I also missed seeing well known action actor appear in small roles/cameos such as Arnold in EX1, Chuck Norris in EX2 etc. This movie didn't have a single cameo or guest appearance.
it's a bad movie. It should have been launched on Netflix or Prime instead. Not worth paying for. The plot twist was ridiculous. They should have left the man dead, it would have been more glorious
Relax. There are still other countries in Asia. Iko and Jaa are well known and could help boost the box office.
ReplyDeleteEagerly awaiting reviews now
ReplyDeleteBased on the Chinese reviews looks like it’s a bad movie y’all

DeleteAgreed. China is probably the last indicator of quality I'd use before seeing it for myself.
Deletethe ratings on IMDB are also looking pretty bad

Deleteratings are not from critics but the audience!!
DeleteWhat are they criticizing? CGI?
Deletethe say it's overall garbage. Director is shit

DeleteYeah, go watch it and perhaps you do like it better than me, who knows :)
DeleteYes. They'll die when they're dead :)

DeleteNow you've given me hope.
DeleteDon’t hold your breath unless you’re the type who likes anything from Statham
DeleteI'm the type who just wants one more Expendables movie haha That's enough after almost a decade without a new movie.
Deleteyou'll be disappointed then cause it's not an expendables movie
DeleteHaha ok. As long as it has Stallone, Statham and other badass guys, I'm satisfied. Jaa's presence is enough too. I'm not giving up on the franchise :)
